New stop/start technology from Mazda!
An engine that can shut itself off when the car is stopped just makes sense. Mazda says that they have a very clever way of doing this that doesn't require an additional motor or other wizardry. Instead Mazda says they can use direct injection to place some gas in the cylinder and then set it off with a spark--hmmm, very similar to claims that my brother-in-law makes about barbecuing. Making this kind of technology cheaper and more readily available means that we all win. Just as long as they keep my a/c running cool. Tree hugger has it all right here.
