Smart News?

I was reading through one of the million articles that talks about how "small is big" at the Detroit auto show and I stumbled upon this quote "DaimlerChrysler Chief Executive Dieter Zetsche told Reuters Television its Smart group will "likely" launch a two-seat version of the Smart minicar in the U.S. market next year."

Likely isn't a word that I've heard used before with regards to smart in the USA. Possible? Yes. Under consideration? Definately. But, "likely" seems to be stronger language.

If you're a fortwo fan, keep your fingers crossed.

On the flip side, there is an article from Business Week that says "Zetsche confirmed on Jan. 8, on the eve of the North American International Auto Show in Detroit, that he has asked Goldman Sachs (GS) to screen potential bidders for Smart." I'm not sure what Dieter is thinking, but in the past he's been very clear that he's giving smart until 2007 to turn things around.
