Saab Sonett
Geneva will be bringing a "we swear it's not based on the kappa" Saab Sonett concept. Auto Motor und Sport thinks that the car will look like this. A sporty Sonett could add some flash to Saab's lineup. However, its no secret for the next few years it's going to be a real dry spell for Saab dealers. The next product in the pipeline was to be the crossover based off the Subara B9 Tribeca, but that product went away when GM cashed in its Subaru chips. There have been some spyshots of a Saab crossover that looked like a Opel Antara with a few Saab styling cues and that vehicle could be called the 9-4x...or not. Backing up those spyshots were comments made by Jay Spenchian, Saab USA's general manager, who was a recent guest on Autoline Detroit. Jay described a desire for a five passenger crossover in the $30,000 range and further down the line a potential for a sporty two seater "image vehicle". You can view that interview here and if you want to skip to the comments I just cited forward to 20:40. The bottom line is, Saab is going to have to tough it for awhile until anything, Sonett, 9-4x, etc is ready for production.
