Delphi has a new trick up its column

Big fan of the tilt/telescope wheel? Then you are going to love Delphi's new one touch adjustable system that replaces a traditional manual lever with a button located on or near the steering wheel. The driver uses the button to control an electromechanical actuator that locks and unlocks an adjustable column. When the button is pressed, drivers can control rake (up and down placement of the entire column), tilt (up and placement of the wheel) and telescoping (column length) position.

Combining this feature with power adjustable pedals and seat height adjusters we may yet banish phone books from the car seats of the vertically challenged.

It's features like these that can really up consumer satisfaction scores. Delphi says that this option has a very low cost of implementation. Look for this feature starting in 2008!
