Confirmation of the launch of the next generation fortwo in April 2007 has been made by smart. The new version is likely to make it across the Atlantic to the USA. I have it on good authority that the dealerships are already being signed up for the US fortwo. Although no official commitment form DaimlerChrysler has yet been made publicly, I believe this will come by mid 2006. Our sources have also advised that the ‘crosstown’ concept, which appeared again on the smart stand at this years Geneva motor show, will be manufactured. I have no dates for the launch of this new model but, believe this will be introduced with green credentials. The power plant options may include, hybrids, electric and fuel cell technologies.
