Honda Has a Some New Threads

A new "bio-fabric" from Honda has supposedly overcome durability and aesthetic issues that have held back products in the past. Because the new fabric is plant based, Honda calculates that the growth stage of the plant that helps to create the material (which absorbs CO2 ) will help to offset the manufacturing and disposal CO2 emissions. The first Honda to use the new fabric will the fuel cell vehicle that we're all awaiting so anxiously. After that expect to see the fabric start to cover the rest of the lineup. I'm all in favor of a new generation of materials. I doubt this fabric would eliminate my biggest complaint with cloth upholstery: the dreaded static shock. Full Honda press release here.
