A Mighty Wind: VW Iroc Coupe


My, VW is getting clever. The Iroc name comes from the middle four letters from the word Scirocco (not International Race of Champions) and is hoped to be an image building coupe for VW come 2009. Well, if this is it then I'm not green with envy. The design looks derivative, I see Volvo, I see older Honda Civic hatchback, a dash of GTI what I don't see is a real design stand out. How much input did VW's Malibu based "let's retake America" Project Moonraker have during the design process? I couldn't be coaxed out of $26K for this puppy. The concept will debut at the Paris Motor Show in September. I had higher hopes for this one. Autoweek article is located here.
