MDX or Yacht?

I thought that comparing cars to yachts wasn't a good thing. Isn't that what we called the 70's era luxo-mobiles: Land yachts? Well, according Automotive News a yacht is exactly what inspired the styling for the 2007 Acura MDX in it's quest to distance itself from the minivan. Not just any yacht, mind you, but a Wally Yacht's Wallypower 118. What's that? Oh, just your average 16 million (for starters) yacht that features a CODOG (combined diesel or gas) propulsion system—jet engines for speed, diesels for everything else. CODOG isn't something that you'll find on your average Bayliner, friends, rather CODOG is more akin to warships. Well, whatever. The poor minivan has taken its share of lumps, what's another one going to hurt at this point? I still feel that the MDX is a rather tepid design with an agressive front facia tacked on. Take away the Maximum Overdrive Green Goblin grill and what do you have? Certainly not a Wallypower 118.
