2007 Automotive PACE Award Finalists: ASC Incorporated InfiniVu
Every year Automotive News’ PACE (Premier Automotive Suppliers’ Contributions to Excellence) awards honor superior innovation, technological advancement and business performance among automotive suppliers. The finalists for 2007 have been announced and I thought it might be interesting to take a look at the nominees. Unfortunately Automotive News doesn’t provide a description for each nominee so I have to chase down information on each of the finalists. Since the awards will not be presented until April 16, 2007, I’ve got plenty of time!
Today I’m profiling ASC Incorporated InfiniVu "sunvertible" top system. According to ASC the convertible systems will be available in fabric, glass or, a lightweight Lexan resin from GE Plastics. InfiniVu is designed to provide OEMs with a low-investment, highly scalable method of bringing convertible-like motoring to SUVs, crossovers and minivans. The system should retail for around $1,600 to $2,400 and will debut on a 2008 vehicle. To demonstrate the technology, ASC has shown two prototypes for the system: a Hummer H3 with a fabric roof system and a Toyota Sienna minivan with Lexan roof panels.
