2007 Automotive PACE Award Finalists: Halla Climate Control Corporation Wave Blade Fan & Saw Tooth Shroud

I would hope that some day engines will be able to recapture most of their waste heat, such as BMW's Turbosteamer, but until that can be done cooling systems should go about their business as quietly as possible. I apologize for not having a picture for this particular product. Without further ado, I give you the wave blade fan and saw tooth shroud...

Another world’s first was achieved in 2005, when HCC developed the high-efficiency, low-noise cooling fan module, which integrates a Wave Blade Fan and Sawtooth-type Shroud, thereby paving the way for an evolution in engine-cooling systems. As compared to dual fans, the single fan achieved a weight reduction of about 25%, thereby helping to boost fuel efficiency and engine performance. The cooling fan module enables maximum airflow to dissipate the heat generated by the engine radiator and condenser. Demand for low-noise cooling systems, a primary source of engine noise, has increased dramatically as ever-more consumers expect a more pleasant and comfortable driving experience.
