Th!nk? European Fords? In the USA?

Automotive News has a couple of tidbits in Monday's (7/23) paper about potential imports for the USA.

First off the Norwegian electric car maker Th!nk Global is considering bringing it's second generation car here to the states in 2008.

In another article, AN reports: Ford plans to use the next-generation C1 platform to build replacements for the Focus and Escape...The vehicles would be engineered largely in Europe, but U.S. versions would be manufactured in North America.

No real surprise on the Ford side of things. You really can't survive in a global market with disparate platforms running around. Hopefully Ford won't "Americanize" those platforms too much.

AN goes on to report that the US will receive a version of the C-Max, but at a later date. In fact all of these products are coming later rather than sooner. The earliest date I read was "no later than 2011."
