Garmin Publishes MapSource City Navigator North America NT Map Update 2008 (version 9)
New maps are always good. It seems that whenever I travel there always is massive road construction. The new 2008 maps product is worth the cost ($70, but you can get it for less (source)) according to GPS Magazine (source).
GPS Magazine states in their article that there are no free upgrades, but that has not been my experience. The cut off is 60 days, so if you just picked up a new Garmin recently you should be able to qualify. I'll save you a lot of steps and give you a shortcut to file your upgrade claim with Garmin.
- Register you unit in the "My Garmin" section of garmin.com. Print out the registration when done.
- Fax the registration along with the store receipt for your Garmin purchase and fax to 1-913-397-8282 Attn: Cody R
- On the fax cover page be sure to put down all your contact info and why your contacting them. I usually pour a some honey on these letters with lots of please and thank yous.
You should hear back within a day or two via e-mail.
