GPS Jammer: A Sign of Things to Come?

Okay, so GPS is pretty handy: it can help you find your way, locate your stolen car and potentially reduce your insurance bill. There are also schemes in the works for paying road tax based on mileage, location and time of day as opposed to a gasoline tax. However, this little device puts an end to all of that. It emits a frequency that blocks the signal from global positioning satellites. The jammer unit also sports a mobile phone blocker so none of your in-car devices could phone home to mommy.

It's pretty clear that most jurisdictions would ban this kind of device, but if the benefits outweigh the risks these little buggers could be as popular as "chipped" cable/satellite boxes of yore.
