GM / Avis Budget Group Enter into Pact

GM and rental car company Avis Budget Group have entered into a three year agreement that sets forth the terms and conditions related to Avis Budget's purchase of vehicles from dealers of GM for the 2008 through 2011 vehicle model years.

Under the agreement Avis will feature only products of GM in all advertising and promotional materials where any vehicle is featured or promoted, and which are developed for its Avis brand during the 2008 model year.

Of course Avis/Budget is free to buy other cars, such as the Toyota Prius, but you won't see it featured in any advertising. Domestic manufacturers are trying to wean themselves off of fleet sales, but they are still important. Rental cars are a great way for manufacturers to get their wares into potential customer's hands and spread the word about all the progress they've made.
