IIHS smart fortwo Crash Video (sneak peak)

5/14/08 Update:

The IIHS unceremoniously yanked the previous video. Now, the official video, or director's cut if you will, has been released. Like the Fed's test, there was an issue with the door's latch, but it wasn't much of a concern for the testers. The bottom line is that the smart did a pretty darn good job, however, the IIHS likes to remind you that the laws of physics still apply and that a larger car will generally be able to provide greater protection for its occupants.

Original 4/28/08 post:

This "looks" to be an early look at the forthcoming IIHS smart fortwo crash test results. The poster of the video simply describes it as "The smart car crash test at my friend's work." I checked out iihs.org and couldn't find any reference to a smart fortwo crash test, so it would appear that the poster obtained an early copy. From what we see on the video, the car maintains its safety cage quite nicely. However, without information on how the dummy survived, it's too early to draw conclusions.

Of course, the NHTSA has already crashed the smart. The Fed's video is below:

And here's the Fed's side impact test:
