GM Skips the Oscars

GM is leaving the live Oscar telecast after years of support. The company is cutting back on its ad budget and a big ticket, single night event like the Oscars has to be easy target. When you add up all the dough it cost GM to pay for the ads, courtesy vehicles and sometimes exclusive rights to be the only auto advertiser...well, let's just say its a lot! Think about how much advertising that same money can buy you online. The rates for events like the Oscars, Superbowl, etc have become outrageous. Undoubtedly ABC will be able to fill the void left by GM, but I hope that belt tightening by corporations will help put the brakes spiraling costs.
