Following up on the Cruze post from Friday, where GM announced the first photos of the Cruze will be shown on 8/21, the folks at the Lordstown plant were nice enough to send over a few shots of the facility. What we have here are pictures of the first Cobalt produced (top), the 14 millionth car produced (second from top) and then miscellaneous photography.
Lordstown really hit the jackpot, because as recently as 2007 the plant's future was in jeopardy. Back in April of 2007, Erich Merkle, an analyst with IRN in Grand Rapids, Mich., said Lordstown was No. 2 on his list of GM plants that are most likely to close. Now fast forward to 2008 and the head of GM is coming to town to announce a multi-million dollar investment in the plant.
