CHP Warns Do Not Dial *72

Some criminals have been calling folks, advising them that they are with the California Highway Patrol and that their loved ones have been in an accident. Victims are advised that they need dial *72 and then another phone number in order to contact an officer for more information about the accident. By dialing *72 and another phone number, the victims have enabled call forwarding on their phone. With all calls forwarded, scammers are then able to accept collect and third party calls and charge them to your phone number. You'll also miss incoming calls.

Just hang up on these losers.
