"The Treasury is not negotiating with automakers," a Bush administration official said late Thursday. With that statement it would seem that any assistance for a GM/Chrysler merger is going to have to come out of the $25 billion already approved for the auto industry and not out of the $700 billion TARP slushfund AKA Paulson's sandbox. Who knows when or where this crazy ride is going to stop?
