Since the announcement of the 2009 model, many smart enthusiasts have had one big question: "How much?" That query was answered today by smart USA chief Dave Schembri: base prices will increase by $400 for shipments to smart center dealers from January 1, 2009. Overall reception from enthusiasts has been accepting as a price increase of some amount was expected. The new base prices are as follows: Pure $11,990, Passion $13,990, Passion Cabrio $16,990. As you can clearly see, the $400 increase keeps prices under the $12K, $14K, and $17K marks.
In addition, smart USA has also added daytime running lights as a $50 option. In my opinion this feature should really be standard. The yellow smart pictured above is a hat tip to the outgoing color: farewell!
