For years it has been the same story, vans in the U.S. followed a common formula. The vans pictured above basically said, "We're not going to think too hard about this." It was one size fits all (okay, the Astro was a little smaller). Now, however, the is a renaissance in this country.
First came along the European Sprinter in both Freightliner and Dodge guises. It has sold well and we've already seen two generations of this model. I rather like the design myself.
There are other flavors out there, take for example the HHR panel, a nifty way for a small business to tote around goods.
Ford is about to drop the Transit Connect on us, another welcome addition to our nation's fleet. I'd be shocked if the larger Transit didn't replace the Econoline at some point.
Not to be outdone, Nissan will be showing this NV2500 Concept at the 2009 Detroit Auto Show. Over time Nissan will be introducing a number of commercial vehicles to our market, all built in Mississippi.
It's nice to see some fresh thinking in what has been a stale niche. The more the merrier I say!

Finally Some Fresh Thinking In Commercial Vans

I've always felt these were rolling billboards for the auto makers. These hulking vehicles are everywhere and a day doesn't go by when you are not stuck at a red light with a big giant automaker logo in your rear view mirror.
Well, at lease there are some different sizes about there...Now it won't always be a monster van breathing down your neck.
