Bridgestone Corporation said Friday it will axe roughly 800 jobs at a U.S. tire plant due to reduced demand caused by our current economic funk. The company's LaVergne, Tennessee plant will suspend production of tires for passenger cars and light trucks by the end of June. The facility will continue to crank out tires for buses and trucks.
Cuts run wide and deep. Ripples will sweep across the pond as we begin to feel the true impact of the automotive downturn.
