In all the fuss over Akio Toyoda becoming the next President of Toyota, I failed to notice that he is a New United Motor Manufacturing Inc. (NUMMI) veteran. Mr. Toyoda served as vice president the joint venture (with General Motors) facility back in the nineties. Since the Fremont, CA facility is but a stone's throw away from ACATT's world headquarters, I would hope that Mr. Toyoda will be in tune with California and its automotive lifestyle. The brand has become so staid, even its Scion models are putting on weight, that it seems to be losing its touch. Just look at all the models it has produced lately, almost all of them are warmed over, with very little sizzle. C'mon folks, I know you can do better than that!
