Sigh, Bay Bridge Delayed Over Welds...Again

Shhh...Do you hear that? It's the sound of history repeating. Several years ago, accusations were made that faulty welds had gone unrepaired inside pilings for the skyway portion of the new eastern span of the Bay Bridge. End result? No problems found. Now questions are being made the welds in about 900 bridge panels that are being assembled in China.

I'm all for safety, so I definitely want everything up to snuff on the new eastern span. However, each new delay brings closer the chance that we experience a major earthquake without the new bridge in place. Now that would be most unfortunate.
