I thought this msnbc.com article on a Tempe, AZ autoplex was rather touching. There is a dealer who has a "Cat's In the Cradle" moment when he realizes that his long hours at the dealership are much like his own father's years ago. Nearby restaurants are suffering as dealerships cut staff and those who remain pack lunches instead. At the end of the article, however, I was left with hope. The industry will see brighter days, but in its darkest hour, it seems like those days will never come.
