2011 Infiniti M: Finally worth a premium over G?

The Infinti M has long presented a quandary for this author. The nicely appointed interior, including cooled seats and rosewood trim, made for a real treat. However, one never got a sense the the M was worth a premium over the higher volume G sedan.

For 2011 the M is getting more buxom styling and that should help its case. In addition, Infiniti is going to stuff the car with electronic goodies. Innovative materials, an advanced climate control system, superior audio and an enhanced quality feel. The 2011 M will continue Infiniti’s technology innovation leadership with a blind spot intervention system. This industry-first system is designed to help alert the driver if another vehicle is detected in an adjacent lane during an intended lane change, and then help assist the driver in returning the vehicle toward the center of the original lane of travel.

The G sedan remains a favorite of mine and M will have to work hard to prove its worth. The Essence concept inspired styling certainly helps, but the true test will be seeing the car in person. The 2011 Infiniti M is scheduled to go on sale across the world starting from spring 2010.
