Cadillac CTS Wagon

I'm a wagon FREAK. I love the utility the wagon body affords. Right now I'm piloting a Jaguar X-Type wagon, but let me tell you that this CTS wagon will be testing my reserve to not incur another car loan. I presume that we'll see the official debut in Paris. The only minor concern that I have is that the D-Pillars are thick and that will cut down on visibility. Convertible Sales Down. CTS 'Vert a Victim?

Convertibles didn't get the best of news yesterday. Automotive News reported that drop top sales dropped 8.6 percent in 2007. That means that there were less than 300,000 new registrations, something that hasn't happened since 2003.

To top off that news, Edmunds reported that the rumored Cadillac CTS convertible will not be making it to market. When I had spoken to Clay Dean, Cadillac's Global Design Director, at this year's Detroit Auto Show, he had hinted at the CTS convertible, but never said those words. The model certainly would have filled out the lineup of sedan, coupe and wagon. Just because Edmunds "sources" say it is so, doesn't necessarily make it true. However, with a global economy downturn, a potential convertible would be the first to get voted off. Being a wagon fan, I'm glad to see that the CTS variant is still full steam ahead. I'm really looking forward to seeing the production version.

Cadillac CTS Coupe Concept

Another hit from Detroit '08. This is a very sharp car in pictures and in person. If leaked UAW documents are to be believed, production of this vehicle should start around 2009, perhaps as a 2010 model. I forecast that a CTS wagon concept will show up at either the Geneva or Paris auto show this year.

Car Magazine Drives the New CTS

The US media have on the whole been pretty enamoured with the new CTS. How does the foreign press treat Cadillac's baby? Well if you are the UK's Car magazine, the answer is pretty well. The magazine praised the matured styling, improved cabin and ride/handling of the car. Oh sure they found points to quibble about including "The cheap thunk of the doors and the creaky, spongy seats" but it's the best review I've seen them give a Cadillac.
