Kettenbeil: Another Allotment of smart fortwo Brabus Editions Could Be Released in U.S.

I had a chance to chat with smart's communications director Ken Kettenbeil. In addition to discussing the electric drive model, Mr. Kettenbeil also indicated that smart is looking to release another wave of Brabus models in the U.S. There is nothing official to announce at this time, but if there were to be another batch it would be in the mid-2009 time frame.

I asked Ken if he felt that increasing the allotment of Brabus models would cause initial buyers to view their models as devalued or less exclusive and he replied that smart USA did not view that as a concern. Ken also stated that there would likely be no new models released in the U.S., other than additional allotments, until the electric drive model debuts.
