Truly a sad example of our current mess. A brand new Toyota dealership in Oakland has shut its doors before it even had a chance to throw a grand opening party. Superior Toyota notified its employees today, Tuesday, that the dealership was to be shut down at the end of the day.
Although it was a Toyota dealership, Nissan provided financing for the building. Nissan decided to bail and left Superior Auto Group with no other source of funding.
To make matters even worse, I learned about this closure on the evening news where the Superior Toyota story was preceded by coverage of an abandoned dealership that had caught fire after copper thieves ransacked the building. Where does it end?
