Fiat Grande Punto

With all the recent attention paid to the forthcoming Opel Corsa debut, I thought it might be fun to take a look it's sister ship the Fiat Grande Punto. GM and Fiat have parted ways, but they conceived the Grande Punto/Corsa before the breakup and what beautiful children! At least GM got something out of this, unlike the premium platform that begat the Alfa 159/Brera/Spyder but no General Motors products.

It is projected that in the first twelve months of the Grande Punto being on the market Fiat will sell 400,000 units. Holy Cow! That's a lot of Puntos. Credit some of that to its styling. As one writer said, "The Grande Punto isn't going to need the big sell to sell big." For comparison's sake, I've thrown in a picture of the new Corsa so that you can see the family resemblance.

That's a very good looking car. I wish they sold it here. Hopefully, the trend towards smaller cars will continue here in the US. Maybe we'll see cars like this here sometime soon.
