4.4L Diesel for Ford, Jetta Backs Down, GM Says: No Fire Sale
Automotive News is reporting that Ford is developing a 4.4 liter for use in light trucks towards the end of the decade. Supposedly the engine is in pre-approval stage, but it’s almost a sure thing. For example, as previously reported Ford is showing a 4.5 liter diesel as a possible future engine option in the Ford Expedition.
Volkswagen is putting its marketing plans in reverse and decontenting the Jetta. The freshly stripped Jetta will start $1,410 less. VW may choose to try and reposition the Jetta the upmarket again at some point in the future.
GM folks are making the rounds claiming that there will be no distressed merchandise sales this summer from the automaker. All I have to say is--summer hasn’t started yet. Let’s check back in on this subject in a month or so, shall we?
