VW Tiguan Spy Shots

It would appear that Left Lane News is now purchasing photos from Brenda Priddy & Co. Hats off and a big thanks for supporting the folks that give us something to talk about.

Now, let’s talk about this Tiguan business. Everybody wants a piece of this action: I started to make a list of all the models that will fit into this category, but it became so massive that my eyes glazed over and I began to worry about the models that I was forgetting so I just decided to chuck the list. Certainly this class cover a wide range of pricing from the likes of the Tucson all the way up the X3. Where will VW price the Tiguan? VW could pull a Rabbit (pun intended) out of its hat and give this model some real value pricing, but I would tend to predict that most will roll out the door in the mid twenties. A V6 option would certainly boost the price considerably.

VW arrived at Tiguan (the name is a combination of "tiger" and "leguan," the German word for iguana) via a contest. Apparently the 350,000 voters preferred Tiguan to the other proposed names: Nanuk, Namib, Rockton and Samun. I think that I would have gone a different route, but 350,000 European magazine readers certainly can’t be wrong, can they?

I’ve collected a bundle of photos for your review. The first is the Concept A, next is an Autobild sketch, VW’s teaser sketch and finally a snippet of the latest spy photos (to see the full monty, please click here).
