BMW 1-Series 3 Door Hatch, USA Yes?

There has been a lot of arguing back and forth amongst bloggers about whether or not BMW will bring the hatch version of the 1-Series. Many who follow the industry believe that BMW felt so burned by the 318ti, that never again will a hatch wear the roundel in the USA. Others point to Mini's success and that this may have heartened BMW to try again.

Well, no publication has been more adamant about the USA getting the 3 door than Winding Road. In the latest edition of the magazine, WR lays all the chips on the table and flat out says that, yes, the USA will get the 3 door along with notchback and convertible versions.

I'm still dubious myself. I definitely see a traditional coupe, convertible and sedan headed our way. I'd be thrilled to see a hatch, but until it's made official by BMW I won't be holding my breath. WR states that of the hatchback models, the USA would get the 3 door version but not the 5 door, somewhat of a disappointment if that turns out to be true.

Check out the latest edition of WR, the future of automotive magazines if you ask me, here and read it for yourself!
