When the Astra was first announced for the U.S. market there was immediate speculation that a Redline model might follow. Later reports had it that due to the limited volume, short lifespan of the model, and high cost associated with certifying another powertrain there would be no Redline in the U.S.for this generation. However last night at a dinner hosted by Saturn, I had a chance to ask Jill Lajdziak about a Redline Astra and the answer was not an immediate no. Lajdziak indicated that both she and Bob Lutz would like to see a Redline Astra happen. No promises of course, but certainly some high power backing.
