Size Does Matter: Longer Cars To Cost More to Park

The British city of Norwich is opting to charge motorists of longer cars higher parking charges.

Owners of many popular family vehicles will be forced to pay almost twice as much for their annual residents' permits.

There are three bands for the parking fee: under 12.8 feet, 12.8 feet to 14.5 feet and longer than 14.5 feet. A Mini Cooper owner will still pay the annual fee of £16. An Astra driver will pay £22 a year. Opel Vectra drivers will pay £30. Unlike London's congestion charge, hybrid owners will get no breaks with this fee.

Supposedly the increased fees are designed to reduce carbon emissions and release more parking spaces, but that claim sounds rather dubious to me.
