Alfa's Return: Where to Build Them?

As Alfa Romeo continues to ponder which models will spearhead its volume sales return (the 8c Competizione will plant the flag) to the USA, it's also considering where those cars will be built. This Reuter's story raises the specter that Alfa may setup shop in Mexico and this Bloomberg attributed story says the USA itself is being considered. It probably would be wise to build North American models here rather than in Italy. Maybe some of the romance is gone, but this would allow Alfa to churn a profit more easily and would allow for more competitive pricing.

I'd love to see the return of Alfa, but their current lineup is less that inspiring (8c notwithstanding). Sure the look is good, but these FWD/AWD models would have a difficult time commanding a premium in our luxury market--especially if their quality was not spot on.

At this point I'd much rather see a Fiat 500 Abarth making it's way to our shores--provided it doesn't stray very far over the $30,000 border.
