Being from the Bay Area, I consider myself somewhat jaded to the price of gas. I even commented on another site that the price of gas this weekend really wasn't going to shock me.

I was wrong.

On the way down to San Diego we paid 4.49 for regular at the Tejon pass stop right before the grapevine. I wasn't pleased but I figured that would be the high watermark for the trip.

I was wrong, again.

On the return trip on I5 back to SF, the station attached to the IHOP restaurant near Bakersfield where were dining in was getting 4.79 for regular.

Now that's downright unpleasant.
