Card swipes hurt gasoline retailers - El Paso Times

Probably not a lot of sympathy for gas stations right now, but these folks are getting caught in the middle and are not seeing tremendous profits. The above linked article discusses the credit card fees that gasoline stations must pay and this link talks about gasoline thefts. An interesting quote from the theft story:

Retailers say gas thieves hurt them badly because they’re already operating
at razor-thin margins of roughly 2 cents a gallon. A retailer would need to sell
an extra 3,000 gallons to offset a $60 drive-off.
