Something I Would Have Never Understood In College: "Waste Beer"

Waste beer? You can't let that happen! Suck it out of the shag!

Molson Coors Brewing Co. is the official ethanol provider for the 2008 Democratic National Convention. As the official ethanol source, Molson Coors will donate all the E85 ethanol needed to power a fleet of GM flex-fuel vehicles to be used at the convention. The free fuel is sourced originally from waste beer that has been deemed substandard or lost during the packaging process. Molson Coors has actually been converting waste beer since 1996, so it's not some wacky eco-stunt just for the convention. Current the company produces around three million gallons of ethanol a year.

If beer must be wasted, at least it's for a good cause.
