Sadly no one was around to make the top go up on this convertible at the LA show. I saw a second G37 convertible at the SF Auto Show and I asked the rep if she could operate the car's roof. Nope. It seems that these cars are "prototypes" and the reps are not allowed to operate the top's mechanism. Bummer.
