Neil Young Promotes His "100 MPGe" Lincoln

Neil Young was making his pitch in San Francisco for his new venture called Linc Volt, a company that Young hopes will win the Automotive X-Prize for a production capable vehicle that can exceed a 100 MPG equivalent . As a centerpiece of his of his presentation was a 1959 Lincoln Continental that supposedly runs natural gas, electricity and perhaps just a bit of hype. Interesting to me were the local media reports that quoted a 100MPG figure, while other media stories state 75MPG. Hopefully for Young, this venture will end on a more positive not than his dabbling in model trains which suffered from a rash of lawsuits.

I'm skeptical. The news coverage here in SF was more enamoured with talking about Neil Young than getting into specifics of how the car works or how Linc Volt could produce 10,000 units per year at a cost within levels that the market is likely to bear (a requirement of the X Prize).
