I've discussed this before, I believe that San Francisco is simply a giant parking ticket machine. They'll ticket your car, they'll ticket my car, heck they'll even repeatedly ticket stolen cars. I never visit the City without a roll of quarters.
Now it has been revealed that after SF cut street sweeping program in more than 20 neighborhoods last year to save money, it has lost four times more money than it saved due to a reduction in the number of $50 street-sweeping tickets it was able to issue. Those lose revenues would have gone to the struggling Municipal Transportation Agency and now SF has to figure out how to fix that deficit. More than likely transit service will be reduced and fares hiked.
