Welburn Reminisces About Motorama

I like GM's design chief Ed Welburn a lot. I'll be honest, I've never had a chance to sit down and chat with him, but I've stood across from him at a number of parties and events and watched him interact with people. He's got a real genuineness about him and he certainly doesn't put on airs despite his achievement of being only the sixth person to hold the design chief title at GM. Under his watch, GM has turned out some pretty compelling designs. I remember the time that a CTS, followed by an Enclave and then a Solstice passed me by, what a gorgeous trio of cars. Mr. Welburn along with people like Saturn's Jill Lajdziak frequently come up in conversation as managers who really care about their employees and their careers.

Okay, so that's enough of an introduction. In this clip, Mr. Welburn talks about GM's Motorama cars and how they influenced him at an early age. GM will be showcasing some of its most memorable Motorama cars at this year's Pebble Beach Concourse d’Elegance. You can read the full list of Motorama cars making an appearance by clicking here. All of this is leading up to GM's centennial celebration in September.
