Rumors have bounced around that Toyota iQ may be brought to the U.S. as a Scion. No confirmation on whether or not that will be the case. However, what I do have for you is word from a Toyota engineer that he expects the iQ will be launched in the U.S. before the first model update. The holdup is that Toyota needs to adapt the iQ for U.S. safety standards by using different airbags and beef up the car's bumpers.
As I've said for awhile, I have no doubt that Toyota will crash's smart's party here in America and it's only a question of when and which brand will sell it.

Of course after the addition of the correct larger bumpers and much heavier airbags, the iQ will have to be marketed as the latest 7 passenger SUV...but that's America for you...
